Kamal Haasan’s most awaited film Thug Life has been released in theaters on June 5, but the situation is not easy for the film. After Kamal Haasan’s statement on Kannada language, the film has been banned in Karnataka. The effect of this is so big that the film is believed to be losing about 20 crores directly.
The film exhibiter and distributor Raj Bansal said that the thug life could not get the same opening in Hindi as is expected. Kamal Haasan is in the lead role in the film and he is also a co-producer, so this loss is going to have a direct impact on his pocket.
Kamal Haasan’s statement became the root of trouble
In an event a few days ago, Kamal Haasan said that “Kannada language has come out of Tamil.” There was a lot of opposition to this statement by linking language and identity in Karnataka. At first he was demanded for apology, but he refused. After this, the Karnataka government stopped the release of the film.
No relief from court either
Kamal Haasan reached the High Court to challenge this decision, but the court also advised him to apologize. The actor refused to apologize again. Now the next hearing in this case will be held on 10 June. Till then the ban on the film in Karnataka will remain intact.
Budget and starcast of thug life
The film is directed by Mani Ratnam, who is also a co-producer of it. The film has big actors like Trisha Krishnan, Silambasan TR and Abhirami along with Kamal Haasan. According to media reports, the budget of thug life is between 250 and 300 crores.
Big budget film, limited screen
If the film made by spending such a huge amount is not released in a big state like Karnataka, then it is natural to be damaged. Also, Kamal Haasan is the biggest fanbase in South India and the biggest earning is expected from there.
Will the path open with forgiveness?
Now the question arises whether Kamal Haasan will open the way for the release of the film by apologizing or will be adamant on his stand? The hearing of June 10 will decide the future of this film. At present, the thugs have been engulfed in life controversies and its effect is clearly visible at the box office.
