Voting has ended in the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election for the Scottish Parliament, with Reform UK hoping to cause an upset and secure its first seat in Scotland.
The contest was triggered by the death of Scottish Government minister Christina McKelvie, who held the seat for the SNP with a 4,582-vote majority in the 2021 Holyrood election.
The race was initially expected to be a head-to-head battle between the SNP and Labour, which captured the corresponding Westminster constituency in last year's general election with a majority nearing 10,000.
However, First Minister John Swinney claimed last week that Labour's campaign had "collapsed," suggesting the real contest was between the SNP's Katy Louson and Reform's Ross Lambie.
