It's been four years since Daniel Craig exploded out of the 007 film franchise in No Time To Die.

Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next .

And today, Amazon MGM Studios has released a first look trailer at the official next adventure of Ian Fleming's spy.

007 First Light follows a young 26-year-old old Bond straight out of the Royal Navy, as he embarks on his origin story to earn his Double-O and the Licence to Kill that comes with it.

And now the official next Bond is all but confirmed to be "phenomenal" Irish actor Patrick Gibson, although this news isn't quite what fans may think.

007 First Light is the first new Bond video game in 13 years, and although we don't yet know the new cinematic 007, this is the next official incarnation of the franchise. Gibson, 30, is best known for playing the young Dexter Morgan in Dexter: Original Sin and has also featured in The Tudors, Shadow and Bone and the film Tolkien. Check out the first look trailer above to get a better idea of his young Bond.

Joining the cast is The Walking Dead's Lennie James playing Bond's mentor John Greenway, who mentions the new spy has been expelled from top British public schools, which presumably includes Eton College, which he canonically attended. We've also got another black Moneypenny following Naomie Harris, the first female M since Dame Judi Dench and a cravat-wearing, pencil-moustachioed Q who's a doppelgänger for Baz Luhrmann

Clearly, 007 First Light has been inspired by the source material as Gibson's Bond is the first official incarnation outside the original from Fleming's novels to sport his iconic facial scar. This take also has the orphan backstory of the young spy losing his Scottish and Swiss parents in an avalanche and features his Royal Navy background as Commander Bond. As we await news of the next big screen 007, this official latest version of the character will certainly keep us occupied when released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC in 2026.
