voiced wild claims about and his alleged use of ketamine, alleging that there are reports that the world's richest man might wear nappies. The unfounded claim by the BBC Radio 2 presenter, likely to have stunned some listeners, seemingly referred to a New York Times article on Mr Musk's private life, which spoke about the rumour that the Tesla CEO had "taken ketamine". Speaking to a person who called in during his programme on Friday, Jeremy Vine said: "I think he has been taken (sic) ketamine.

"I think he has said that publicly. And we know that whoever you are and how rich you are, it can interfere with your bladder. And there is some speculation that he may wear a nappy as a result of that, so if the richest man in the world wears a nappy, that's extraordinary." The Times article in question levelled accusations of drug use during Donald Trump's campaign trail against Mr Musk, though he has denied this.

The outlet claimed the tech billionaire was suffering from bladder problems brought on by ketamine use, citing insiders who said his drug use was escalating and prompting serious concerns among senior colleagues.

One source described it as a "bladder problem from too much ketamine".

Mr Musk responded on his platform X: "To be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their a** off. I tried *prescription* ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven't taken it since then."

Speaking with journalist Don Lemon last year, Mr Musk discussed his alleged druge use, saying: "There are times when I have sort of a ... negative chemical state in my brain, like depression I guess, or depression that's not linked to any negative news, and ketamine is helpful for getting one out of the negative frame of mind."

The world's richest man added a prescription for the drug had been given him from "an actual, real doctor" and that he used "a small amount once every other week, or something like that".

The Express has contacted Tesla and Elon Musk via his government email for comment.
