The player who won two World Cup to Team India retired from cricket

Delhi: Spinner Piyush Chawla, who won two World Cups to India, announced his retirement from all the formats of cricket on Friday. He said goodbye to his 20 -year -long cricket career while sharing an emotional post on social media.

Piyush Chawla wrote that he is now retiring from both international and domestic cricket. He said that every moment spent on the field was no less than a blessing for him. Chawla, who won the T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI Cup 2011 for India, said that this journey will always be very close to his heart.

Chawla wrote, “Today is a very emotional day for me. Even though I will not come on the field now, but cricket will always be alive inside me. Now I am ready to start a new journey with experiences from this game.”

Piyush Chawla started his international career in 2006 with the Mohali Test against England. He took 7 wickets in 3 Tests for India, 32 wickets in 25 ODIs and 4 wickets in 7 T20 International. His last international match was against England in 2012.

He performed brilliantly in the IPL by being part of teams like Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Especially in the IPL final of 2014, he won the team by winning the winning run for KKR.

In his post, he also thanked coach KK Gautam, Pankaj Saraswat and his father. He wrote that the trust and direction given by his father brought him to this point.

Piyush Chawla was a player who played an important role in getting Team India the World Cup and always harassed the opposition teams with his spin.
