KL Rahul started England tour with a hundred on Day 1 of the 2nd unofficial Test match against England Lions. Rahul played his shots after settling in and put the rivals under pressure.
He completed his century in the second session on Friday, June 6. The right-handed batter reached his half-century in 102 balls and completed his hundred in just 151 deliveries.
India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran early in the innings but Rahul rescued the visiting team.
Chris Woakes claimed the wickets of Jaiswal and Easwaran. However, the delivery that sent back Jaiswal might have missed the leg stump.
Rahul left the balls outside the off stump and went for the shots against the short-pitched stuff. He added 86 runs with Karun Nair, who scored 40 runs.
After a patient half-century, Rahul played aggressive shots when the sun came out. He hit cover drives against the English bowlers. KL Rahul was dismissed after scoring 116 runs off 168 balls, laced with 15 fours and 1 six. Dhruv Jurel managed 52 runs off 87 deliveries, including 7 boundaries.
Rahul’s innings will help him in the Test series against the Ben Stokes-led unit. He was one of India’s performers in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 in Australia.
