
In anticipation of increased commuter traffic on the occasion of Basi-Eid on Sunday, June 8, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has announced the operation of 68 extra bus services across the city. This move aims to ease travel for devotees and residents visiting key locations such as Haji Ali Dargah, Mahim, and the Gateway of India.
"To cater to the festive rush, BEST will introduce special services on multiple routes. Notably, two air-conditioned double-decker buse services will operate between Kurla West and Andheri West, offering commuters a more comfortable travel option" said an official.

In addition, four extra buses will run between Byculla West and August Kranti Maidan, while a series of three additional services will be deployed on several important routes, including Navy Nagar to Jijamata Udyan, Vijay Ballabh Chowk to Vikhroli Bus Depot, Hutatma Chowk to Shivaji Nagar CSMT to JVPD Bus Station,Hutatma Chowk to Pratiksha Nagar,Colaba Bus Station to Worli Bus Depot, Borivali West to Juhu Beach,Santacruz West to Juhu Beach, Santacruz to Malvani Bus Depot, Juhu Bus Station to Gaikwad Nagar, Kurla East to Shivaji Nagar, Tardeo to Shivaji Nagar.
Furthermore, BEST will deploy two additional bus services each on over a dozen other prominent routes to ensure citywide coverage and minimize travel disruptions during the festival period.
A BEST official stated, “Every year on this occasion, there is a significant increase in footfall at religious and recreational sites. These extra services will help maintain smooth operations and provide relief to commuters.”
