Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): There are chances of state cabinet expansion after the training camp to be held in Pachmarhi from June 14 to 16. Other than Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, there are 30 ministers in the cabinet. Three positions are still vacant.
If the party agrees to remove the controversial ministers from the cabinet, some legislators may get ministerial berths. If the RSS has its say, some new faces may be inducted into the cabinet, and some ministers may be asked to quit.
Though the BJP did not seek resignation from Vijay Shah soon after his comments on Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, the party may mull over asking him to quit during the cabinet expansion.
According to sources, the party is mulling over removing Shah and giving a ministerial berth to another tribal leader. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput also courted controversies.
A legislator from Sagar district may get a place in the cabinet instead of Rajput. The government is also keeping an eye on the ministers’ performance. According to sources, the non-performing ministers may be asked to go.
Keeping in mind the caste equations, several legislators were inducted into the cabinet before the Lok Sabha election. Some of these ministers may be asked to quit, and new faces may be inducted into the cabinet.
The BJP and RSS leaders are holding a meeting over the ministers’ performance. A decision on the issue may be taken after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s trip to the state.
