planning their holidays across various locations in will have more flights from smaller UK airport this year, with one travel expert praising the airline for "rebalancing the UK's travel map". Easyjet has announced more flights between Derry Airport and Liverpool and Edinburgh, among other destinations.

According to company bosses, the move will provide "more choice to customers" even throughout the winters when the number of flights tends to drop wordlwide. Winter flights from the UK to destinations like Greece, Spain, France and Portugal, will come as a huge boost to tourists.

A spokesperson from EasyJet told The Express: "We are pleased to be offering flights for the winter season to a number of our popular city routes from airports across the UK to destinations like Athens, Bilbao, Murcia, Bordeaux, and Almeria, and adding more flights from City of Derry Airport to Liverpool and Edinburgh, providing even more choice for our customers throughout the winter."

Aviation expert and Founder of , Anton Radchenko, said: "This is one of the most strategically timed expansions we have seen from easyJet in recent years.

"By strengthening routes from regional airports like Derry, Luton, and Bristol, easyJet isn't just boosting access-it's rebalancing the UK's travel map. What makes this easyJet move interesting is that it's consumer-first.

"They are not waiting for the storm to hit; they're giving passengers a wider window to plan better. That's rare in a time when most airlines are still trimming schedules. Clearly, easyJet aims to position itself as a resilience leader in European aviation."

He explained how the smaller regional airports like Bristol, Edinburgh, and City of Derry are seeing real investment, "which not only improves access but also helps bypass major hubs like Heathrow and Paris CDG, which are typically hit hardest by winter delays and strikes".

He added: "My advice to passengers is to book before August to get the best fares, especially for December and January departures.

"If you are flying in October, book by the end of June or July. These flights will fill quickly, especially on leisure-heavy routes with smaller aircraft. Also, travel midweek if possible, and always check for alternatives from regional airports like Bristol or Edinburgh. And remember, while new routes offer great flexibility, cancellations still happen, so know your EU261 rights.

"You are entitled to rerouting, meals, and accommodation, even if you don't qualify for compensation. Last but not least, if a route is cancelled less than 14 days from departure, you're owed compensation up to £520."
