In an unexpected turn of events that has sparked a social media storm, Khabane “Khaby” Lame, the Senegalese-Italian TikTok sensation celebrated for his wordless comedic videos, has allegedly been taken into custody by U.S. immigration authorities in Las Vegas. The report, however, is yet to be verified by any official body, raising questions over the credibility and motives behind the claim.
The allegation originated from Bo Loudon, a conservative political activist closely aligned with Trump-era immigration policies, who claimed via social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that Lame was arrested for being in the country illegally.
Loudon followed up with what he called proof—a screenshot allegedly from the ICE Detainee Locator, which lists Lame under custody in Henderson, Nevada. However, Hindustan Times and other credible media outlets have so far not been able to independently verify the authenticity of the image or the detention status. Neither U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) nor Lame’s team has issued an official statement.
The claim, which has triggered both outrage and confusion among Khaby’s global fan base, continues to remain speculative pending official clarification.
Who is Khaby Lame?
Khabane “Khaby” Lame, 25, became a global internet icon during the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to his trademark expression and silent takedowns of overly complicated “life hacks.” His rise from a factory worker in Italy to TikTok’s most-followed creator, with over 162 million followers as of 2025, is the stuff of modern-day digital folklore.
He holds dual Senegalese and Italian citizenship, and was recently seen attending the 2025 Met Gala, further cementing his status as a cultural and fashion influencer. He was also featured in Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and Forbes’ 30 Under 30 lists.
Despite his soaring popularity, Lame has largely stayed away from political discourse, making Loudon’s characterization of him as a “far-left TikToker” puzzling and, to some, suspiciously politicized.
