The controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone ’s exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga ’s ‘Spirit’ is now believed to be affecting her involvement in another major Prabhas-starrer, ‘ Kalki 2 ’. Deepika, who had a short but pivotal role in 'Kalki 2898 AD', was expected to return in a much more prominent capacity in the sequel. Director Nag Ashwin has reportedly developed a deeper, meatier arc for her character in 'Kalki 2', one that is central to the storyline.


However, the Telugu 360 website reports that Deepika’s firm stance on work conditions and scheduling is causing delays in locking her for the second part. Report suggests that despite losing ‘Spirit’ over similar demands, Deepika is maintaining the same approach, including strict working hours and detailed date coordination. This has left the ‘Kalki’ team in a dilemma, with rumours surfacing that the makers may explore recasting options if a compromise isn’t reached.


Fallout from ‘Spirit’: What Went Wrong?
Deepika’s professional relationship with Sandeep Reddy Vanga reportedly soured over differences related to work conditions and remuneration. Sources claim she demanded Rs 25 crore and a 10% profit share for ‘Spirit’, along with a strict 8-hour workday – a clause reportedly tied to her recent motherhood. These demands allegedly led to her being replaced by Triptii Dimri. The fallout went public when Sandeep took indirect digs on social media, adding fuel to the already burning debate.
