During the Google I/O 2025 event, the company stated that Gemini will now have “scheduled actions.” This feature allows users to automate tasks which transforms Gemini from a reactive assistant into a proactive one. It has been rolled out to customers on the Google AI Pro and Ultra plans, as well as some supported Workspace accounts. With scheduled actions, users can set recurring tasks to be done automatically. For instance, you can command Gemini to provide a daily calendar briefing, or even give a weekly blog ideas list and it will do so automatically. How to Use Scheduled Actions in GeminiSetting up the feature is as easy. You can say something like, “From now on, give me the day’s news every day at eight in the morning.” You can also convert an existing prompt into a recurring task for automatic completion. All your scheduled actions can be checked and controlled inside the settings menu in Gemini.Use Cases: Beyond ProductivityGoogle highlights that scheduled actions offer more functionality beyond work- tasks. While Siri and Alexa are mainly reactive systems, Gemini is moving towards the space of intelligent, proactive support — hybridizing chatbot, assistant, and productivity tools.
