John Wick 5: The Resurrection? Keanu Reeves' Character Makes a Shocking Return After Death

After the explosive and seemingly conclusive events of John Wick: Chapter 4, director Chad Stahelski is back at the drawing board with ideas for John Wick: Chapter 5. Despite John Wick’s apparent death in the 2023 film, Lionsgate has officially greenlit a potential continuation of the beloved assassin’s saga if the story proves worthy.

A “Cool” Story in Progress, But No Guarantees

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Stahelski revealed that he and screenwriter Mike Finch are actively developing the story. “Me and Mike Finch the writer on 4 who’s also writing 5 — we’ve got a pretty good story that I think is cool,” he said. However, the director emphasized that they won’t proceed until the narrative feels fully satisfying. “Once we have a 50-page book, and if we’re feeling it, we’ll sit with Keanu [Reeves] and shape this thing,” Stahelski added.

Though Lionsgate is eager to bring John Wick: Chapter 5 to life, Stahelski remains cautious. “The studio would very much will it into existence, I’m sure,” he explained. “We’re going to try. It’s just… is it going to be satisfying?”

Ideas May Fuel Future Spin-Offs

Even if the sequel doesn’t materialize, Stahelski believes the creative process won’t go to waste. “If we build this story and decide this isn’t right, there are probably going to be 10 other things we’ll discover,” he noted. These ideas could fuel more spin-offs within the Wick universe, such as the upcoming Ballerina starring Ana de Armas.
