The recent stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, in which 11 people died and more than 50 injured, have brought the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) under controversy. Now taking moral responsibility for this incident, KSCA Secretary A.K. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jairam has resigned from their respective positions.

The two officials resigned to Chairman Raghuram Bhat on Thursday night. In a joint statement, he said,

“Although we did not have a direct role in this incident, we have decided to leave our posts taking moral responsibility.”

KSCA said – not our responsibility of organizing
Earlier, the KSCA filed an affidavit in the Karnataka High Court to clarify that it was limited to providing and allowing the venue, while the responsibility of mob management was of RCB and event partner DNA Entertainment Network.

On June 5, a victory parade was also held at the stadium after celebrating RCB’s victory at Vidhan Saudha. But after the sudden removal of RCB’s social media posts, there was confusion among the fans, due to which thousands of crowds became uncontrollable and stampede.
