
New Delhi: World champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is going to participate in the Paris Diamond League to be held at Stade Sebastian-Charlottey France on 20 June 2025. This will be Neerajs second Diamond League competition this season. Earlier he has participated in the Doha Diamond League in May. His last participation in Paris was in 2017 where he finished fifth by throwing a distance of 84.67 meters. In that competition Johannes Vetter of Germany took the first place by throwing a distance of 88.74 meters. Breaking national record made a blast in Doha In May this year at the Doha Diamond League Neeraj broke his own national record and recorded a tremendous throw of 90.23 meters. This was better than his previous best throw of 89.94 meters (2022 Stockholm Diamond League). However despite this historic performance he finished second. Julian Weber of Germany won the competition by throwing a distance of 91.06 meters. Strong performance in Chorzow too Neeraj participated in the Janusz Kusoczynski Memorial in Chorzow Poland on 23 May. Despite rain and wet conditions he achieved a distance of 84.14 meters in the last attempt and once again finished second behind Julian Weber. Weber threw a distance of 86.12 meters this time. Started the season in South Africa Neeraj started the 2025 season in April with the Potch Invitational Meet in Potchefstroom South Africa. There he topped the list with a throw of 84.52 meters and got off to a great start to his campaign. Next challenge: Golden Spike and Neeraj Chopra Classic Neeraj Chopra will also participate in the Golden Spike Athletics Meet to be held in the Czech Republic on June 24. After this he will be the main attraction in the Neeraj Chopra Classic being held for the first time in Bengaluru on July 5. Tough competition for the Diamond League final Javelin throw athletes with the highest points in the Diamond League series will get a chance to qualify for the final. The Diamond League 2025 final will be held in Zurich on August 27-28. Neerajs goal is to make it to this prestigious final and make the country proud once again.
