Chinnaswamy stampede: After the stampede in Bangalore, big news is coming out about the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) surrounded by controversies, where A Shankar and ES Jairam have resigned from their posts as KSCA Secretary and Treasurer. Both submitted their resignation to KSCA President Raghuram Bhat on Thursday night, cited moral responsibility for the incident. 11 people were killed in this stampede while more than 50 people were injured.
‘Our role in this was very limited’
In a joint statement, Shankar and Jairam said, ‘After the unexpected and unfortunate events that have happened in the last two days, we want to tell that we have resigned from our posts. However, our role in this was very limited. Earlier, KSCA has said that he was not responsible for the crowd or gate management during the June 5 celebrations. The KSCA had told the Karnataka High Court that its role was limited to providing the venue and permission, while the crowd control was handled by the RCB and its event partner DNA Entertainment Network.
Four people have been arrested in the case
Let me tell you that there was chaos outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium when the social media post of RCB was removed, in which the fans were invited to gather for the victory parade. The honor ceremony in Vidhan Saudha (Assembly) went on smoothly, but the uncontrolled crowd outside the stadium caused a stampede. The High Court has taken cognizance of the incident and has stayed punitive action against KSCA officials till 16 June. An FIR has been lodged against KSCA, RCB and DNA and four arrests including RCB marketing head.
