The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a new Flybus service connecting Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru with Virajpet via Mysuru, starting March 16, 2025. This move comes in response to increasing demand for direct airport access from Virajpet and marks the second destination in Kodagu district, after Madikeri, to receive a Flybus route.

KSRTC Expands Flybus Network with New Luxury Route to Virajpet

According to KSRTC’s Chief Public Relations Officer Latha T.S., the luxury Volvo multi-axleair-conditioned bus departs KIA at 03:30 and leaves Virajpet at 12:45, with ticket fares set at ₹1,200. The buses offer comfortable reclining seats in a 2+2 layout and are designed for convenient, time-efficient travel.

The Flybus initiative, first launched in 2013 to connect Bengaluru Airport with Mysuru, has expanded steadily to serve Madikeri, Manipal, and Kundapur. From its modest beginnings with one bus and 8,676 passengers in 2013–14, ridership surged to over 190,000 by 2017–18. By 2020, the service included 11 buses making 20 trips daily.

KSRTC Boosts Coorg-Bengaluru Connectivity with Strategic Flybus Expansion

KSRTC’s Flybus model aligns bus schedules with flight timings to offer a reliable, economical, and safer alternative to private taxis, especially for long-distance travellers. The new Virajpet route is expected to benefit both tourists and business travellers, further strengthening connectivity between Coorg and Bengaluru.

This expansion underscores KSRTC’s broader goal of enhancing inter-city transportation and supporting regional development through cost-effective and high-quality transit options across southern India.
