New Delhi: During a meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the urgent need for robust international measures against terrorism and its supporters. Lammy voiced his condemnation of the recent Pahalgam terror attack and expressed solidarity with India in its battle against cross-border terrorism.


The Prime Minister's Office highlighted Modi's satisfaction with the successful completion of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement and the Double Contribution Convention, acknowledging the productive discussions that led to this achievement.


Modi also welcomed the strengthening of bilateral relations and expressed contentment with the progress of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.


He noted the ongoing collaboration under the Technology Security Initiative, recognizing its potential to foster secure and trusted innovation ecosystems.


Lammy conveyed the UK's keen interest in enhancing cooperation in vital sectors such as trade, investment, defense, security, technology, innovation, and clean energy, expressing optimism that the FTA would create new economic opportunities for both nations.


The leaders discussed various regional and global matters, with Lammy reiterating his condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and supporting India's stance against terrorism.


In a post on X, Lammy expressed gratitude for Modi's warm reception and reaffirmed the commitment to deepen the partnership, celebrate the unique ties between the two nations, and promote growth and security.


Additionally, Lammy engaged in extensive discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who reiterated India's 'zero tolerance' policy towards terrorism, emphasizing that India will not equate the perpetrators of violence with their victims.


The UK Foreign Secretary arrived in New Delhi for a two-day visit aimed at reviewing various facets of the strategic partnership.


In another post on X, Lammy expressed enthusiasm about advancing a new era in UK-India relations, focusing on enhancing trade, technology, addressing climate challenges, and ensuring greater security for both nations.
