Heavy rain alert in 12 states, Meteorological Department issued forecast Weather Update

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a serious weather alert for many states across the country on June 7. Heavy rain is expected at some places, while strong thunderstorms and lightning are expected at other places. Many districts of Northeast India, coastal states and North-Western region, in particular, may face the brunt of the weather this week.

Heavy rain forecast in northeastern states

Light to moderate rain is expected in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura.
According to IMD,

  • There may be heavy rain in Tripura on 7th June.
  • Heavy rains are also expected in Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur between June 9 and 11.
  • There may be intermittent heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh from 9 to 13 June.

Heavy rain warning in states adjoining the sea

  • Heavy rainfall has been recorded in many areas of Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
  • It has been predicted that there will be rainfall of up to 85 mm in 24 hours.
  • There has been 12 mm of rain in the last 6 hours and 20 mm of rain in 24 hours.

Danger of lightning along with thunderstorm in Madhya Pradesh

  • There may be a strong storm in Madhya Pradesh on June 7 at a speed of 40-50 km per hour.
    Along with this, incidents of lightning may also occur.
  • There is also a warning of strong winds and lightning in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand between June 10 and 13.

Weather effect will remain in Rajasthan and North India too

In eastern Rajasthan

  • Light to moderate rain is possible on 7th and 8th June.
  • Whereas dust storms may occur in western Rajasthan from 8th to 10th June.

other states of north India like

There is a possibility of rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh between 11 and 13 June.

Rain accompanied by thunder in 22 districts of Gujarat

Many parts of Gujarat will also see rain.
Light to moderate rain with thunder is possible in these districts:
Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udaipur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra-Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad and Diu.

The effect of rain will remain for the next 7 days

  • IMD has forecast that rainy conditions will continue in many parts of India for the next seven days.
  • There is a possibility of continuous rain especially in the northeastern and sub-Himalayan states.
  • This may affect crops, traffic and public life.
