The St. Louis Shock (10-1, 30 points) rebounded from their season-opening loss on Thursday by defeating the Utah Black Diamonds (5-8, 15 points) and Carolina Hogs (1-9, 4 points) in regulation.
Kate Fahey/Gabe Tardio's 10-12 loss to Tammy Emmrich/Ben Johns of Carolina was the lone setback for the Shock, who dominated and won 7-1 in their eight games on Friday. But shortly after that loss, Anna Bright/Hayden Patriquin defeated Kaitlyn Christian/Collin Johns in a pickle to end the day's play on Toray Championship Court with a 3-1 triumph.Bright discussed the team's lessons gained from Thursday's defeat and the changes taken before Friday's games."There are a few teams with a big target on their backs, and it's an honour to be one of those, but we have to expect every team's best and still come out hungry every match, even though we ae typically going to be pretty favoured. That was the main adjustment, just coming out today really ready to go and really hungry. I think that's definitely easy to do after a loss," she explained. The Shock will return to action on Saturday as they clash against the Chicago Slice and SoCal Hard Eights. Here are other notable results from Friday at Pictona:
- Chicago Slice def. New York Hustlers 4-0.
- Carolina Hogs def. Texas Ranchers 3-2 (Read more here).
- New York Hustlers def. SoCal Hard Eights 3-1.
- Texas Ranchers def. Utah Black Diamonds 4-0.
- SoCal Hard Eights def. Chicago Slice 3-2.
