Investigation into the Death of Dr. Joshua Samraj

A young physician was discovered deceased in a vehicle parked near Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, after it appears he administered IV fluids to himself.

The individual, identified as Dr. Joshua Samraj, was a postgraduate medical student from Salem and was working in Madurai. Reports suggest he was facing financial challenges, according to police.

His body was located in a wooded area of Poomparai after local residents noticed the car had been stationary for three days and alerted the authorities.

Law enforcement confirmed that the 29-year-old had likely self-administered IV fluids in the vehicle, pointing towards a possible suicide.

A suicide note was discovered in the car, but it did not mention any individuals or clarify the reasons behind his actions.

His parents later informed the police that he had been struggling with depression due to personal relationship issues.

The police have initiated a case and sent the body for an autopsy, with the definitive cause of death pending the results of the examination.

The note found in the vehicle indicated that the doctor expressed remorse to his family but did not assign blame or provide an explanation. His family confirmed he was dealing with relationship-related depression.

Investigations also revealed that Dr. Samraj was reportedly in debt, although specific details regarding this have yet to be confirmed. Amidst social media speculation about potential losses from online gambling, police stated, 'We have not found any such information in his suicide note, nor do his parents mention it. We are looking into it.'

Preliminary reports suggest that the doctor may have self-administered intravenous fluids in the car, but authorities maintain that only the autopsy will determine the true cause of death. A case has been officially registered.

This incident has once again highlighted the pressing issue of mental health among young professionals, particularly within the medical field.
