Gwalior (Bhitarwar): In a tragic incident, the son of former councillor Dinesh Bhatela died after drowning in the Parvati River near Bhitarwar. The incident occurred while he was visiting the town to attend a wedding.
Ayush Bhatela, a Class 8 student who was known for being good at his academics, had been missing since Saturday afternoon.
His family, who lives in Ward No. 8, assumed he was at the wedding function. But when he didn’t return by 5 pm, they began searching for him among friends and relatives. After no leads were found, the police were informed.
Ayush was a good swimmer
Based on Ayush’s last mobile location, police traced him to the Diya Dah Ghat on the Parvati River. During a search on Sunday morning, his clothes were found at the riverbank.
Later in the afternoon, a local spotted a body floating in the river and alerted the police.
Preliminary findings suggest that Ayush had gone to bathe in the river. However, the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, especially since he was reportedly a good swimmer.
The police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem. Bhitarwar SDOP Jitendra Nagaich confirmed the recovery of the body and said an investigation is underway.
