Spain's Carlos Alcaraz produced an epic fightback to clinch the French Open title with an unforgettable 4-6 6-7 (4/7) 6-4 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (10/2) win over world number one Jannik Sinner at Roland Garros in Paris on Sunday.
Despite losing the first two sets, Alcaraz, who saved three match points in the fourth set, fought back in a battle for the ages to clinch his fifth Grand Slam title.
Sinner got off to the perfect start as he dominated the first set before clinching the second set on a tie break.
But Alcaraz, 22, regained his rhythm and fought back to take the third set.
The 23-year-old Sinner, though, had a glorious opportunity to win the match in four sets when he had three match points at 5-3 in the fourth set only to waste all of them as Alcaraz took the match to the decider.
In a dramatic battle of baseline rallies, fortunes swung like a pendulum as the players traded winners and breaks of serves in the fifth set.
Eventually, it was Alcaraz who held his nerve in the last set tie-break to win one of the greatest Grand Slam finals of all time.

Alcaraz comforts Jannik Sinner following his victory.
"We said it was going to be a classic - and it really was. It is the greatest Grand Slam final I've ever seen," said former US Open runner-up Greg Rusedski on BBC.
"The emotion from Carlos Alcaraz is just unbelievable. He is down there hugging his mum, his dad and his brother.
"Let's spare a thought for Jannik Sinner though. This must be immensely painful, having had those three championship points. He is handling the situation very well but this must be a bitter disappointment for him."
The gruelling five-set win in Paris was Alcaraz's fifth successive victory over his big rival Sinner whose 20-match winning streak at the majors came to an end.
