The ABP Live SmartEd Conclave 2025 opened with a powerful keynote by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, setting the tone for a high-powered day of discussion, innovation, and inspiration. The event, being streamed on ABP Live, brought together a stellar lineup of policymakers, educators, and EdTech leaders to chart the roadmap for a future-ready education system aligned with India’s aspirations to lead globally.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan underscored the need to overhaul traditional learning paradigms. He followed it up with a fireside chat with ABP Political Editor Megha Pradhan, where he said, "Education must be outcome-focused. So that it contributes to job creation," he asserted, drawing attention to the urgent need for employability-driven curricula.
Reimagining Language, Learning And Curriculum
Pradhan also made a strong pitch for linguistic inclusivity, challenging the over-reliance on English in education. "We should stop relying on the English language. We should give mother language greater attention," he said. Reinforcing this idea, he outlined a multilingual vision for early education: "From class one to class five, learn two languages. Your mother tongue should be one of the two languages, and you can select the other one."
He further touched on recent reforms such as introducing two board examinations to ease academic pressure while enhancing learning outcomes. He called this dual-assessment approach a student-centric move, designed to offer flexibility and reduce stress.
"New Projects and Ideas Introduced in the Education Sector," he said, while hinting at an evolving policy ecosystem built around innovation and inclusivity.
Honouring Innovation And Envisioning The Future
In a symbolic moment, Delhi Education Minister Shri Ashish Sood took the stage to honour trailblazers in the education sector and spoke about the need for a more inclusive and dynamic academic environment in the capital.
In his opening address, Yash Mehta, CEO of ABP Education, set the tone with a call for self-reliance in thought and pedagogy: "We need to be independent, rather than dependent."
