A glowing review on Rotten Tomatoes reads: "Just like The Crown covers Queen Elizabeth II's life throughout her reign, this series covers Queen Victoria's. It almost looks like they are twin series full of drama, romance, politics and good historical accuracy."

The inaugural series of the beloved drama offers a dramatised glimpse into the young queen's ascent to power at just 18, her captivation with Lord Melbourne, and her initial years married to Prince Albert , reports .It also delves into the birth of her firstborn and successor, Princess Victoria.

As the series progresses, viewers witness her evolution into the formidable monarch she became, while she navigates the challenges of balancing her duties as a wife and mother. The narrative touches upon significant historical events, such as the Anglo-Afghan War and the Irish famine.

Portraying historical figures comes with its challenges and potential for criticism, yet Jenna Coleman is widely praised for her exceptional depiction of the 19th-century monarch.

Tom Hughes, who portrays Prince Albert, has further cemented his reputation with this role but also enjoys recognition for his work in Cemetery Junction, Red Joan, and The English.
