Aamir Khan will soon be seen alongside Genelia Deshmukh in 'Sitaare Zameen Par', and the casting has drawn attention due to the 23-year age difference between the two actors. While Genelia plays Aamir’s wife in the film, many were quick to recall her earlier on-screen pairing with Aamir’s nephew, Imran Khan, in 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na'. Addressing the age gap in a recent interview, Aamir shared his thoughts on whether it posed a concern and why age is no longer a limitation for actors today.

Aamir Khan on age-gap with Genelia Deshmukh

Addressing the age-gap conversation in a recent interview with 'The Indian Express', Aamir candidly responded, “Ya, I know. But that was a long time ago. And ab Imran bhi kafi meri age ka ho gaya hai (laughs). That thought did come to me, but in the film, we’re both playing characters in the age group of early 40s. She’s around that age. I’m 60, but in today’s day and age, we have the advantage of VFX. Earlier, if I played an 18-year-old, I had to rely on prosthetic.”

The actor, often hailed as Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, further elaborated by referencing Anil Kapoor’s performance in Eeshwar (1989), where Kapoor convincingly portrayed a character decades older than himself. “So, age is not a barrier for actors anymore,” Aamir concluded.

About Sitaare Zameen Par

As fans reminisce over the charming “Rats and Meow” chemistry of Imran and Genelia from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', all eyes are now on how Aamir and Genelia’s dynamic unfolds in 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. Will this fresh pairing strike a chord with audiences? Time will tell — but expectations are certainly running high.

Scheduled to hit cinemas on June 20, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is being positioned as a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 directorial gem 'Taare Zameen Par', a film that remains deeply etched in the hearts of many.'
