Israel kidnapping claims expose Greta Thunberg for who she really is

Not long ago grown-up politicians, world leaders and presidents, practically took the knee in her presence. When she went to America, the Swede addressed the United Nations when she should really have been swimming with the dolphins at Seaworld. She was 16 years old, for God's sake.

Nobody, but nobody elected this woman (because getting elected is hard) but she spoke at top-level summits repeatedly, such as the World Economic Summit, Oxford University, the European Parliament, and of course the snivelling, supine BBC allowed her to edit their - actually ours as we pay for it - flagship current affairs vehicle the Today Programme.

But the same way teenagers always think they are the first people to ever discover sex, Greta was convinced climate truth had been revealed to her and her alone. It hadn't. We have things called climate scientists Greta. And they are grown-ups. Now Greta, not content with wagging her finger at the capitalist system which has provided her with a most comfortable level of human existence, is now intent on single-handedly saving Palestine.

It's an ace away from a full-on Napoleon complex isn't it? And so today Ms Thunberg and 11 other passengers who were on a boat taking probably half a can of SMA and a few rusks to, ahem, "save the Palestinians" were intercepted by Israeli forces and were, at time of writing, being taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

This is absolutely standard procedure for any craft attempting to access Gaza - as the butt-clenchingly named Freedom Flotilla Coalition knew all along. They simply hoped to weaponise this fact to make their spurious point. As soon as the Israeli boats came into view Greta immediately went to social media saying she and her gap-year buddies had been "kidnapped".

But the Israelis are past masters at this stuff and arrived with sandwiches and orange juice for the hapless Freedom Flotilla types which were gratefully received. I've never been kidnapped but I understand it is not usual protocol to bring a picnic basket. With inch-perfect judgement, Israel's foreign ministry portrayed the whole deluded exercise as a public relations stunt, saying in a post on X that "the 'selfie yacht' of the 'celebrities' is safely making its way to the shores of Israel".

And extra points go to the Israel Defense Forces who will be showing Greta and her gang a video of Hamas's October 7 attack before they are deported. Which is both genius and makes a serious, perhaps the serious, point.

Of course, Greta, who has spent years attacking the Swedish government, is now demanding that same Swedish government bail her virtue-signalling idiocy out. I wonder what the Swedish tax-payers make of that?

But that is Greta isn't it? Hates the modern capitalist world.. But is more than happy to take all it has to offer and more.
