In fact, insect scientists of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Agricultural University Indore have discovered the smallest ants in the country in Damoh district. This species had never been recorded in India before.

The length of these new ants is 0.5 mm long. Talking about its head, it is only 0.2 mm, which is light yellow. Scientists have named it Agralomirmate ‘Damoh Ant’. It is also being claimed that it is the smallest ant in India. The team of scientists surveyed 13 to 14 districts for about 3 years. At the moment, further research is going on on this.
40 species are found
According to scientists, ants destroy the insects on plants, as well as improve the quality of the soil, leading to growth of the plant. There are 900 species of ants found in India, out of which 40 species have been recorded in Madhya Pradesh, while 30 species are found in Indore. Talking around the world, so far 1 million insects have been named.
