As the country grapples with the shock of the Air India tragedy in Ahmedabad, several events from the entertainment world have been put on hold. A Boeing 787-8 aircraft bound for London Gatwick crashed shortly after takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, carrying 242 people. In light of the heartbreaking incident, actors Salman Khan and Vishnu Manchu called off their scheduled appearances, while Netflix India scrapped a much-anticipated screening.

Salman Khan’s ISRL press conference called off

Salman Khan, who recently came onboard as the face of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), was scheduled to headline a press conference in Mumbai on Thursday. The event, which was to feature ISRL co-founders Veer Patel and Ishan Lokhande alongside the actor, was cancelled immediately after the news of the crash surfaced.

In a joint statement, the organisers said, “As we all have just heard the tragic incident that has taken place today. Indian Supercross Racing League and Mr. Salman Khan stand by the Nation United in this tough time. All our condolences and prayers are with the affected families. Jointly, we have made a responsible decision to reschedule this event to a further date.”

Vishnu Manchu cancels Indore event, postpones ‘Kannappa’ trailer

Vishnu Manchu, who was gearing up for the grand trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Kannappa', also announced a change of plans. A pre-release event was slated to take place on June 13 in Indore, but in light of the national tragedy, the actor confirmed both the trailer drop and event have been deferred.

Taking to X, he wrote, “My heart breaks for the lives lost in today’s Ahmedabad Air India crash. In deep mourning, we’re deferring the #Kanappa trailer release by one day and canceling tomorrow’s Indore pre‑release event. My prayers are with the families during this unimaginably difficult time.”

Netflix India shelves ‘Rana Naidu’ Season 2 screening

The Mumbai screening of 'Rana Naidu Season 2'—starring Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati—was also cancelled in the wake of the incident. Scheduled to be held at Chitra Cinema in Dadar East, the event was expected to host several cast members including Surveen Chawla, Arjun Rampal, Kriti Kharbanda, and Sushant Singh.

A statement from the team read, “Due to the devastating Ahmedabad plane crash incident, we've made the decision to cancel the Rana Naidu screening at Netflix India. Our thoughts and condolences go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.”
