Saudi clubs tempt Hakan Calhanoglu with big-money offers as Inter open to sale

Inter Milan’s star Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is reportedly weighing lucrative offers from multiple Saudi Arabian clubs, casting uncertainty over his future at the Serie A side.

According to Italian outlet SportMediaset, the 30-year-old Türkiye international, who currently earns €6.5 million per year, has received several “astronomical” contract proposals from clubs in Saudi Arabia. Sources say Calhanoglu is seriously considering the offers, which include long-term deals with significantly higher salaries.

Turkish international open to departure

Inter are said to be open to letting Calhanoglu leave if a satisfying transfer fee is presented. The club views the situation pragmatically, especially given the player’s age and the financial scale of the offers.

Calhanoglu made headlines this season by helping Inter reach the UEFA Champions League final for the second time in his career. In 47 appearances across all competitions, the midfielder recorded 11 goals and eight assists.

Calhanoglu: Midfield maestro of Turkish football

Born in Mannheim, Germany, to Turkish parents, Calhanoglu began his professional career at Karlsruher SC before moving to Hamburg and later Bayer Leverkusen, where he made a name for himself with his long-range shooting and free-kick skills.

He joined AC Milan in 2017 and played four seasons with the Rossoneri before making a controversial free transfer to city rivals Inter Milan in 2021. Since then, Calhanoglu has become a central figure in Inter’s midfield, known for his tactical intelligence, passing range, and set-piece delivery.

Internationally, he has been a consistent performer for the Turkish national team (Türkiye), earning over 80 caps since his debut in 2013. He played a key role in Türkiye’s qualification for Euro 2024 and remains one of the most influential Turkish players in European football.

In the 2024–25 season, Calhanoglu helped guide Inter to the Champions League final, marking his second appearance in the competition’s showpiece match.
