ABP Live Sports | June 13, 2025 1:41 PM CST

The much-anticipated five-Test series between India and England is set to begin on June 20, and India will be eager to break an 18-year-long winless streak in Test series on English soil. Their last series victory in England came in 2007, and the current squad, led by Shubman Gill, will carry the hopes of millions.

Ahead of the series, let’s take a look at Indian bowlers who have made the biggest impact in England over the years — with only Jasprit Bumrah still part of the current setup.

Top Indian Wicket-Takers in England

Ishant tops the list among Indian bowlers in England with 48 wickets in 14 Tests (22 innings). He averaged 34.00 and is best remembered for his stunning 7/74 spell at Lord’s in 2014 — one of India’s finest pace bowling efforts overseas.

Indian legend Kapil Dev is second on the list, having picked up 43 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 39.18. He claimed three five-wicket hauls, with his best performance being 5/125.

The only active bowler in this elite list, Jasprit Bumrah has been India's pace spearhead in recent years. In just 8 Tests, he has taken 37 wickets at a phenomenal average of 23.78, with best figures of 5/64.

Legendary spinner Anil Kumble took 36 wickets in 10 Tests in England, averaging 41.41. Though he never picked a five-wicket haul there, his best was 4/66. He also famously scored a century in England.

India are set to face England in a high-stakes five-match Test series starting June 20. With the series taking place on English soil, Team India will aim to end an 18-year wait for a Test series win there. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the team looks to bounce back in red-ball cricket.
