Speaking on Naeem Hanif’s Eid special program, Qamar openly discussed a variety of topics, including the state of the film industry and his approach to writing.

In response to a question, he stated that the gift of writing is divinely bestowed and cannot be taught. “That’s why I don’t have any formal students,” he said, “though I do try to guide aspiring writers.” However, he emphasized that true writing talent cannot be taught or transferred.

Discussing Pakistani cinema, he said the decline of the film industry is largely due to the disappearance of Punjabi filmsclaiming that Urdu films cannot succeed in Pakistan without the support of Punjabi cinema.

He criticized directors for lowering the quality of Punjabi films, saying they portrayed a distorted version of Punjabi cultureglorifying gangsters and thugs instead of presenting authentic narratives, which in turn damaged the overall standard of local films.

Qamar stressed the importance of respecting writers in the showbiz industry. “The day I stop receiving respect, I will no longer be a part of this industry,” he said. “A writer is a talented individual and deserves due recognition.”

Hinting at a possible rift, he mentioned that he has already worked extensively with Humayun Saeed and that their collaboration may not continue going forward.

It is worth noting that Humayun Saeed has played leading roles in several of Qamar’s successful projects, including the hit drama “Mere Paas Tum Ho” and the films “Punjab nahi jaungi” and “London nahi jaunga.”
