On Thursday, Chinese media outlet Their released a video showing Leong and Ma holding hands on the streets of Hong Kong, dining together, and attending an event. The two appeared relaxed and affectionate, making no effort to avoid paparazzi. They were also previously spotted walking hand-in-hand in Beijing.
According to entertainment outlet On.ccLeong’s three sons—whom she shares with Li—encouraged her to find love again.
37-year-old Leong’s private life has long been a subject of public interest. At age 19, when she was regarded as one of Hong Kong’s most promising young stars, she began dating Li. She later terminated her management contract and gave birth to their first son. In 2010, she welcomed twin boys. The couple separated in 2011, after which Leong relocated to Canada to raise her three children.
Since the split, Leong has been a single mother. She has described her relationship with Li as one between “the mother and father of three sons.” While she once hoped to marry him, she said she eventually chose to move on, not wanting to force the relationship. In recent interviews, she shared that her children are growing up and have become increasingly attentive and caring toward her.
Born to Portuguese and Chinese parents, Leong began her career as a model at age 12 and rose to international fame with her role in the 2008 film “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”
She met Li in the same year.
Li, now 57, founded pan-Asian network STAR TV in the 1990s and later established the investment firm Pacific Century Group, which launched insurance company FWD Group in 2013. As of Friday, Forbes estimated his net worth at US$4.8 billion, ranking him as the 19th-richest person in Hong Kong.
His father Li Ka Shing remains the city’s wealthiest man with a net worth of US$38.7 billion, as of Friday.
Ma, 46, began his acting career in 1991 and rose to prominence with his role as You Tanzhi in the 2003 television drama “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils,” directed by renowned Chinese filmmaker Zhang Jizhong. He made his directorial debut in 2023 with the film “Wolf Hiding.”
