
Mumbai: A man was tragically killed at Ghatkopar railway station during peak hours on Friday after he came under a train amid a heavy rush to de-board. He was rushed to the nearest Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar East, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased was identified as Sanjay Matange, 51, a resident of Badlapur. An identity card found with him indicated that he was 100% blind. An Army canteen card was also found with him. The police are trying to trace his relatives.
According to the railway police, the incident occurred on Friday between 7:44 pm and 7:58 pm. A slow local train from Parel to Thane was approaching Ghatkopar station at the time. The deceased, Sanjay Matange, was standing on platform number one at Ghatkopar station. He suddenly lost balance, fell, and got trapped between the platform and the local train, sustaining serious injuries.
The railway police pulled him back onto the platform and attempted chest compressions, but he remained unresponsive. He was immediately taken by auto-rickshaw to Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared dead.
