Israel's Attack on Iran Raises Concerns

On the same day, Israel launched an attack targeting Iran's nuclear and military facilities, following a warning from former US President Donald Trump about the potential for a significant conflict in the region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the operation focused on key components of Iran's nuclear program, including the Natanz site and certain nuclear scientists. Netanyahu stated, “The operation against Iran will continue as many days as it takes.”

An Israeli security official indicated that Iran's Chief of Staff, Mohammad Bagheri, was likely killed in the strikes. Reports from Iranian state media suggested that residential areas in Tehran were also affected, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children.

State television noted visible fire and smoke at a crucial base of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, with explosions reported in Natanz, a central Iranian city. Iranian media claimed that the head of the Revolutionary Guards, Hossein Salami, was also among those killed.

In response to the attacks, flights were suspended at Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, and Iraq closed its airspace, halting all flights. Israel declared a state of emergency and restricted its airspace, with Defence Minister Israel Katz warning of potential retaliation from Iran.
