Bihar Monsoon Update: The weather has taken a turn in Bihar. The period of thunderstorm, strong winds and lightning has begun in many districts, while in some parts heat and humidity are troubling people. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of strong winds and rain in many districts for today (June 15). The good news is that the monsoon may arrive in Bihar by June 17-18.

How was the weather in the last 24 hours?
On June 14, the weather changed in many parts of Bihar. Strong winds of 30-40 km/hour blew with thunder and lightning at some places in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Shivhar and North-Eastern Bihar and lightning also occurred. At the same time, heat and humidity kept people miserable in districts like Patna, Purnia, Gopalganj, Forbesganj and Supaul.

What is the weather forecast on June 15?
Today, many districts of north-central and north-east Bihar are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms along with strong winds of 50-60 km/h. North-west and south-east Bihar are also likely to experience winds of 30-40 km/h and lightning. Districts of south-west Bihar, such as Aurangabad and Rohtas, will remain under the effect of heat and humidity. People need to be cautious.

In which districts is there a weather alert?
The Meteorological Department has issued a special warning for various districts of Bihar. There is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour and thunderstorms in Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Shivhar, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia and Katihar districts.

On the other hand, there is a possibility of light rain and thunderstorms along with winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Bhagalpur, Banka, Manger and Khagaria districts. Apart from this, the effect of heat and humidity will remain in Aurangabad, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Buxar, Bhabua and Arwal districts, due to which people may have to face inconvenience.

Weather forecast for the next few days:
On June 16, some areas of north and south-east Bihar are likely to experience strong winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph and bad weather with thunder and lightning. On June 17, thunderstorms and strong winds may occur in most parts of the state, due to which people need to be alert. On June 18, heavy rains are expected in Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui and Nawada districts, while strong winds at a speed of 50 to 60 kmph are expected in areas of south and north-west Bihar.

Latest update of monsoon
The northern boundary of monsoon has not yet reached Bihar, but the Meteorological Department says that favorable conditions are being created for it in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar in the next 2-3 days. Monsoon may enter Bihar around 17-18 June, which will start the rainy season.

According to the current
weather conditions in the state, the maximum temperature in North-West and South Bihar is likely to remain between 38 to 40 degree Celsius. Whereas in the areas of North and East Bihar, the maximum temperature can remain between 36 to 38 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in the whole of Bihar is expected to remain around 26 to 30 degree Celsius, due to which humidity can remain during the day as well as nights.

Advice for people and farmers
The Meteorological Department has advised people to be cautious to avoid lightning and strong winds. During strong winds and lightning, one should avoid going near open fields, trees or electric poles, as it can prove dangerous. To get relief from heat and humidity, it is advised to wear light colored loose clothes, drink as much water as possible and avoid strong sunlight.

Farmers have been advised not to sow Kharif crops until there is sufficient moisture in the soil to ensure a good start to the crop.
