Marseille pull out of the race for FC Copenhagen’s Roony Bardghji

Olympique de Marseille will not pursue a deal for Roony Bardghji (19), despite initial interest in the Swedish winger, according to a report from Market football.

Bardghji is expected to leave FC Copenhagen this summer with just six months remaining on his current deal. OM had explored the possibility of signing the 19-year-old at a cut price, as they seek creative reinforcements ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League.

However, Marseille have now decided against pushing forward, primarily due to lingering concerns over the winger’s fitness. Bardghji recently returned from a serious ACL injury and, per the report, is still experiencing discomfort in his knee—leading the OM hierarchy to view the move as too great a risk.

With Roberto De Zerbi at the helm, the Ligue 1 runners-up are keen to add players who can make an immediate impact. OM have already secured a principle agreement with Angel Gomes (23) and are close to finalising a deal for Burnley defender CJ Egan-Riley (21), both on free transfers.

As Bardghji drops out of contention, Marseille will now shift focus to other attacking targets as they prepare to compete on multiple fronts next season.
