FairPrice, Singapore’s largest supermarket chain, is selling kampung durians at S$1.95 (US$1.52) apiece as a limited promotion this month.
The promotion, called FairPrice’s annual durian fair, will run from June 13 to 15 at the chain’s 212 Bedok North Street 1 outlet, and from June 20 to 22 at its Kangkar Mall location, CNA reported.
It starts daily at 9 a.m. and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Only the first 300 customers each day can purchase the durians, with a limit of two per person.
Each durian in the promotion weighs between 600 and 800 grams. The chain also offers other popular varieties like Musang King, King of King, and Red Prawn at regular prices, according to Mothership.
The flash sale comes as durian fans in Singapore welcome the main durian season, which typically lasts from June to early September.
The city-state sources about 85% of its durians from Malaysia and, during the peak season, imports around 100,000 kilograms of the fruit per day, according to Bloomberg.
