Apple has once again updated a big update in the list of her old devices. The iPhone XS has now been officially included in the list of ‘vintage products’, while the iPad 5, launched in 2017, has been declared ‘obsolete’. This means that the service and hardware support of these devices is now being limited or completely discontinued by Apple.
This strategy of Apple is part of its product life cycle policy, in which 5 -year -old products are declared first vintage and then a few years later after a few years. This decision of the company is a sign for those users who are using the old Apple device.
iPhone XS: Now included in ‘Vintage’ Club
Apple has now officially put the iPhone XS launched in the year 2018 in the category of vintage devices. According to the company’s policy, any device is declared a vintage 5 years after its final sale. The iPhone XS was closed after the arrival of the iPhone 11 in 2019. This was a slightly better version than the iPhone X which included features like A12 Bionic Chip, Better Camera and Dual SIM support.
(NOTE: Some repair services may still be available by Apple Store and Authorized Service Provider, but they will depend on the availability of parts.)
iPhone XS Max has already been vintage
It is worth noting that the big variant of iPhone XS iPhone XS Max has joined the vintage list in November 2024 itself. Now both models have moved towards the final stage of official support. Apple has also announced that the fifth generation iPad (iPad 5), launched in 2017, has now been obsoleted. This simply means that Apple will no longer give any hardware support for this device, whether the parts are available in stock or not. These steps can be a major setback for those users who were using this device regularly.
