According to the travel website BudgetYourTrip, the average daily cost for a budget traveller in Morocco is around £27 per person, while mid-range holidays cost about £68 per day.

In comparison, Spain averages about £135 per day, while Greece can range from £50 to well over £100 depending on the destination.

A report from Statista also showed that a typical week-long holiday in Morocco costs about €547 (£463), compared to €1,328 (£1,125) in Spain.

And accommodation is far cheaper too, with the average hotel in Morocco costing just €37 (£31) per night, compared to €74 (£62) in Spain.

One tourist wrote on TripAdvisor: "Morocco blew Greece away. I stayed in a super cute riad in Marrakech's old town, and it cost way less than a basic room in Santorini."

Another review said: "Morocco beats Spain for value. My money just went so much further."

Visitors also praised the Atlantic coast town of Agadir for its sunny beaches and affordable entertainment.

One person said: "Food and fun by the ocean in Agadir cost a fraction of what you'd pay in Greece. Prices are super low."

According to package travel comparison site Dealchecker, a seven-night holiday in Agadir, including flights and hotel, can cost around £889 per person in summer 2025.

Morocco also offers unique experiences like camel rides into the Sahara, traditional souks, and desert camping, all of which are often much cheaper than similar tourist activities in Europe.

One traveller said: "You can genuinely feel like royalty on a backpacker's budget here, something you just can't do in Europe anymore.

"For me it was a way better experience than travelling to Greece or Spain or even Italy."
