Watch: Old Video of Digvesh Rathi's 5 Wickets in 5 Balls Resurfaces Online

After a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Digvesh Rathi is back in the news again. A video of him grabbing five wickets in five consecutive balls is going viral on social media. This occurred in the Empress Cricket League 2025 on February 21, 2025, a month prior to the start of IPL 2025.

 

Rathi, a leg-spinner, bowled the 15th over while defending a target of 264. Prior to this over, he had already dismissed two batters in his first three overs. In his final over, he bowled two wrong'uns and clean bowled Aniket Dhankar and Pratyush Raj Pandey on the first two deliveries. On the third delivery, he trapped Nirbhay Dagar LBW to end with a hat-trick.

 

He didn't relent. In the fourth and fifth overs, he sent two more batters back to the pavilion to dismiss AB Rising totally. Rathi finished with incredible figures of 7 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs.

 

Recently, a fan on X posted a video of this magical over and the same was re-tweeted by the official handle of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Earlier, Sahgal Cricket Club (SCC) batted first and posted 263/3 in 20 their allotted 20 overs. The highest scorer for SCC was Shivam Chaudhary with 98 off 42 balls*, hitting 7 fours and 9 sixes. Pursuing the massive total, AB Rising was able to score only 151 runs, getting defeated by 112 runs.

 

Digvesh Rathi is already famous for his inimitable 'notebook celebration,' which he would frequently employ in IPL. Even though he got penalized for it on several occasions, the fans enjoyed it. During , Rathi bagged 14 wickets from 13 games at a mean of 30.64, but LSG could not make it to the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
