Thane: Continuous heavy rainfall has pounded Bhiwandi, Thane, and nearby cities, causing severe waterlogging in low-lying areas and widespread traffic snarls.

Waterlogging has been reported in several areas, including Teen Batti, Rahnal Village on the Kasheli-Bhiwandi Road near Holy Mary School, Fena Pada, and Padma Nagar. In Bhiwandi’s Teen Batti vegetable market, several establishments are frequently submerged due to the area's low elevation.

Motorists have struggled to commute through this stretch, while shopkeepers say they’ve been grappling with the waterlogging issue for years without any concrete solution from the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation.

“We are compelled to continue running our shops here despite the persistent waterlogging,” a local shopkeeper said, expressing frustration over the lack of official intervention.

In a second incident, a 25-foot compound wall of a building in Siddhivinayak Park, Lokmanya Nagar, collapsed around 2:08 PM. RDMC teams arrived on the scene and cordoned off the area using cautionary barricades.

Additionally, three separate incidents of tree branches falling were reported across Thane on Monday due to heavy rain and strong winds.
