Pakistan’s renowned rapper Talha Anjum, known both for his powerful hip-hop tracks and his temper, has once again made headlines—this time for his outspoken criticism of the Sindh government.
Talha Anjum rose to fame through the Urdu rap scene, co-founding the band “Young Stunners” in 2012 with Talhah Yunus. Their breakout track Burger-e-Karachi took a jab at elitist mindsets, gaining a strong following among youth. In 2023, he released his debut solo album Open Letter, further cementing his place as a leading voice in Pakistani music.
While celebrated for his lyrical prowess, Anjum is also known for his temper. In one notable case, he responded to an Indian rapper’s ignorance of him by releasing an entire track titled Kon Talha?, which later trended on Indian YouTube.
Recently, during a live concert, videos circulated of him losing his temper at the crowd—an occurrence not uncommon in his shows.
Now, Talha has taken his frustrations to social media, targeting not his audience but the Sindh government. In an Instagram story, he reacted sharply to a news headline quoting Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who claimed that “Shahrah-e-Bhutto is a gift from the PPP government to the people of Karachi.”
Talha lashed out, saying:
“I’ve seen over 15 years of the worst governance in Sindh/Karachi, yet they still have the audacity to call this a gift?”
He further wrote:
“This isn’t a gift. This is your job—what you’re supposed to do for the people. A job you and your government never took seriously, or else this city wouldn’t have reached such a miserable state.”
Talha’s bold remarks gained widespread support on social media, with many users echoing his sentiments and criticizing the Sindh government’s poor performance.
