Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Nearly 3.29 lakh students will take the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education for Class 10 and Class 12 at 1,305 centres across the state from Tuesday.

This is for the first time that MP Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) is conducting second examination for students who failed to clear the main examination and those who want to improve their scores.

Among the students who opted for the second examination, 9,000 seek to improve their marks. The rest are those who failed to clear the main examination. The second examination will be conducted. The Class 10 examination will end on June 26 and Class 12 on July 5.

Secretary, MPBSE, KD Tripathi, told Free Press that the second examination was equivalent to the main examination. “From paper setting to evaluation, the norms and procedures would be the same as in the main examination,” he said.

The last date for submitting online applications for the exams was extended thrice. Initially, the last date was May 21. It was extended to May 31, then on June 8 and later to June 11. “We extended the last date twice so that maximum possible number of students can avail this opportunity,” Tripathi added.

The second exam is being held in keeping with New Education Policy 2020 and has replaced the supplementary examination the Board used to conduct for students who had failed to procure passing marks in one or two subjects.

The school education department had organised online classes for students appearing in the second examination from May 25 to June 1. From June 2, special physical classes will be held for the students in their schools. About 2.21 lakh students had failed Class 12 examination while 2.75 lakh had failed to clear Class 10 examinations. The results of the main examination were announced on May 6.
