Severe Weather Alert Issued for Delhi and NCR Regions

Weather Warning from IMD

On Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather alert around 2 PM for Delhi and nearby areas including Noida, Ghaziabad, and parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The warning indicated the likelihood of thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds within the next two hours. The IMD cautioned residents in certain areas of Delhi, Noida, and Faridabad about possible hailstorms, intense rainfall accompanied by thunder, and wind speeds reaching 50-70 km/h.


Red Warning for Rain and Thunder

A red warning was issued for parts of northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast Delhi, as well as some areas in NCR, anticipating rain and thunderstorms from 2:15 PM to 4:15 PM. The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Tuesday was 29 degrees Celsius, with the weather department predicting light to moderate rainfall. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the IMD has issued a 'yellow alert' for Delhi until Thursday, forecasting light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and winds gusting up to 50-60 km/h.


Air Quality Update

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality in the city remained in the satisfactory range on Tuesday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 96 recorded at 9 AM. The CPCB categorizes AQI levels as follows: 0-50 is 'Good', 51-100 is 'Satisfactory', 101-200 is 'Moderate', 201-300 is 'Poor', 301-400 is 'Very Poor', and 401-500 is 'Severe'.
