Indonesia ranked seventh in a list of world’s 10 most dangerous countries to visit, according to a global survey conducted by U.K.’s financial comparison site HelloSafe.
The Southeast Asia’s largest economy scored 72.94 points out of 100.
HelloSafe compiled the travel safety index based on 35 different criteria that were boiled down into five categories: the frequency of natural disasters, societal violence, involvement in armed conflict (internal or external), health infrastructure and militarization.
Nations were rated on a scale from 0 to 100 with 0 representing the safest and 100 being the most dangerous.
The Philippines was named the world’s most dangerous to travel, followed by Colombia, Mexico and India.
The rest of the top 10 were Russia, Yemen, Somalia, Mozambique and Pakistan.
Last week, an Australian tourist was fatally shot and another Australian man injured in a shooting incident on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali, Reuters reported.
Bali police are currently hunting for two people believed to be involved in the shooting in a villa in the Badung regency on the southern side of the tourism island, according to news website Detik.com.
Bali has recently introduced new guidelines for foreign tourists to curb misbehaviors and improve its tourism image amid travel boom.
