In the 1970s, well-known actress Aruna Irani grabbed everyone’s attention by playing supporting roles in many films. Recently, she revealed how her ‘good friend’ Rekha got her scenes cut and even got her thrown out of a film. Aruna Irani claimed that Rekha did this because she felt she was acting very well and comparisons could tarnish her image.

During an interview with Lehren Retro, Aruna recalled the time she worked with Rekha in the film ‘Aurat Aurat Aurat’. During this, the veteran actress recalled how Rekha had cut her scenes. She said, “The film took six years to be made because of the producers. I had a very good role, it was a central character. Anyone would pray for a role like that. Then it had to be cut because of many people. Our Rekha ji, she would not let me give it, saying that Aruna’s role is very good.”

Rekha threw Aruna Irani out of the film

Aruna Irani further told that Rekha had got her removed from another film ‘Mangalsutra’ because she had acted very well. She said, “Rekha removed me from a film even though she was my good friend, she still is. But when she removed me from a film named ‘Mangalsutra’, I asked the producer why did you remove me even after giving me the signing amount?” She said, “Rekha ji never wanted you in the film. When I asked Rekha why she did this, she said, ‘Aruna, if you do the character very well emotionally, then I will start looking like a vamp in the film,’ that’s why she removed me.”
