According to a report from Market footballStade Rennais are interested in bringing Idrissa Gueye (35) back to Ligue 1, with the midfielder set to come to the end of his contract with Everton at the end of the month.
Gueye is well-versed with the French top flight, having made his professional debut with Lille OSC in 2010 before leaving in 2015, and having also played for Paris Saint-Germain from 2019 until 2022. The Senegalese international has the distinction of having won Ligue 1 with both of his former sides.
Rennes will be hoping that they can bring some of that experience to Habib Beye’s squad over the summer, with the manager thought to be highly appreciative of the midfielder’s skillset. However, they are not the only French side interested, with Paris FC also hopeful of a move.
His current side, Everton, have not given up hope that he will continue his stay in England. The Premier League outfit have reportedly offered a one-year extension with an option to extend by a further year to the midfielder, but he has yet to accept the proposal.
