Julian Alvarez to Liverpool swap transfer presented that 'makes a lot of sense'

Liverpool parting ways with to land Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez is a swap deal that would "make a lot of sense" - according to former star Dietmar Hamann.

The champions have been ambitious and swift with their recruitment so far this summer and have now been urged to go after 's World Cup winning striker, who only left a year ago. He's since excelled in .

Alvarez scored 29 times for Diego Simeone's Atletico side but has been linked with a return to England. Hamann insists tabling a swap deal involving Nunez, who is surplus to requirements at Anfield, would suit all parties.

Nunez continues to struggle for minutes and goals at . He remains the club's most expensive player ever, at least for now, but has struggled to deliver on his transfer fee over the past three seasons.

Now Hamann has told : "I’d love to see Julian Alvarez at Liverpool and I think Darwin Nunez being part of the deal would make a lot of sense. I think Nunez is tailor made for Atletico Madrid as a physical centre forward, someone who will work so hard which is what Diego Simeone wants.

"Alvarez would also be a fantastic addition at Liverpool, he played in the shadow of at Manchester City but really added to his reputation in Madrid. He led the line, scored goals and made life a nuisance for the back lines he played against, I think he would be a brilliant signing.

"There are rumours about other forwards, but Alvarez would be a great addition to Liverpool and Nunez might just be an ever better signing for Atletico."

Alvarez has been a hit in the Premier League previously, impressing during his two years in Manchester. He scored 36 times across both years despite playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland. However the player himself has expressed little desire to leave the Spanish capital.

Atletico club president Enrique Cerezo has also stated: "Julian Alvarez is a player of Atletico de Madrid. He's very happy here, he is our player and he will remain our player. He was raised at Atletico Madrid and he will die at Atletico Madrid."

Liverpool have been linked with a new striker as they close on the signings of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez. Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike is another man touted with a move to Anfield, although there is mounting interest in him from other Premier League sides.
