
The Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has smashed his eighth T20 Century during the MLC 2025 clash between Washington Freedom against Los Angeles Knight Riders in Oakland.
He smashed an explosive 49-ball 106*, leading the side to score 208/5 in 20 overs. Eventually, the Glenn Maxwell-led side clinched a 113-run victory in the game. His runs came at a strike rate of 216.33. He is captaining the side in the absence of Steve Smith, who led them to the title last year.
With eight T20 centuries, Maxwell equalled several legends, including India’s Rohit Sharma, Warner, Finch, Buttler and Michael Klinger. He went on to go past the 10,500 run mark in T20s.
The most centuries in this format are hit by West Indies icon Chris Gayle, who smashed 22 of them in 463 games. He is followed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam (11), South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw and Indian icon Virat Kohli (9).
He also picked 178 wickets in T20s. The Australia in now the first player in the World to complete a triple of 10,500 runs, 170-plus wickets over five T20 hundreds.
Batting first, Washington Freedom lost four quick wickets despite Mitch Owen’s hit 32 runs. However, Maxwell’s master class has helped to push side’s total to 208/5.
So far in MLC 2025, Glenn Maxwell has scored 149 runs in three innings for his side, at an averge of 149.00 and a strike rate of 204, with his previous scores being 38* and 5. He is the second-highest run-getter so far in the competition. His team has won one and lost one match so far under his captaincy.
Washington Freedom has secured two wins out of three games and secured third position in the MLC 2025 Points table.
They will play their next game against MI New York on June 22 at Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium.
